Product Description:

Grace Blakely is absolutely certain of three things:

Everybody wants Grace to put on a pretty dress and a pretty smile, blocking out all her unpretty thoughts. But they can't control Grace - no more than Grace can control what she knows or what she needs to do. The Dragon Knight - Arc 1

Enter a world of angels, demons and dragons. A place where humans become dragons and dragons live as human. A world where demons crawl out of the shadows and aliens cloud the skies.

'You said you would stay.'

'I know and I lied.'

Protecting humans from dangerous supernatural, alien and mythical creatures is an ongoing and never ending work for a Squire. Especially a Squire in training to be a Knight. Eighteen-year-old Seraphina Beaumont, is a Squire for PASA--Planetary Advanced Specialist Artillery, an organisation created by the Nefaliem (angel-demon hybrids with dragon souls cast in humanoid forms) to enforce the United Council's laws. Living a double life can be troublesome especially when one of her teammates unexpectedly enters her bedroom unannounced before she's going to study.

By Seraphina's bad luck, she crashes an alien spaceship into the royal palace on planet Nefelia. After this initial catalyst, she's confronted with a whole string of misfortune and demon attacks. Being one of the few Nefaliem without the power of energetic magic is problematic--a trait that is inherited by most Nefaliem--so much so that she'll have to find ways to battle demons and monsters alike by solely relying on her wit. Because sometimes relying on your powers alone isn't enough.

Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) was an English writer. During 1907 Edgar travelled to the Congo Free State, to report on atrocities committed against the Congolese under King Leopold II of Belgium and the Belgian rubber companies, in which up to 15 million Congolese were killed. Isabel Thorne of the Weekly Tale-Teller penny magazine, invited Wallace to serialise stories inspired by his experiences. These were published as his first collection Sanders of the River (1911), a best seller, in 1935 adapted into a film with the same name, starring Paul Robeson. Wallace went on to publish 11 more similar collections (102 stories). They were tales of exotic adventure and local tribal rites, set on an African river, mostly without love interest as this held no appeal for Wallace. His first 28 books and their film rights he sold outright, with no royalties, for quick money.

Wyrd Girl

She's in an Otherworld

I'm the weird girl.

You know; the one every kid in class avoids, just in case what I've got is catching.

Not that I care.

See, there are worlds other than this one.

Worlds we pass on to when we die.

Worlds, even, where we exist before we're even born.

They're the worlds of the Nyxt.

And, if I don't handle things right, they're about to declare war on the living.

See: Whispers of the Damned: Ghostly Games

I never had a problem with ghosts, with anything paranormal. It's part of the teen angst that frames my life. Don't get me wrong--I'm not hung up on some romantic gothic cliche. I'm not even trying to say I have supernatural powers. I just see what you can't. Hear what you can't.

My truth? It's easier to believe in the dead, trapped by demons and freed by angels, than the fantasy of ordinary life circling in loops of routine as the one and only reality.

There's a war of survival lurking in the unseen. Some of it's internal, some isn't.

When I understood darkness was feeding on those trapped, I had a moral hitch. Was it survival of the fittest, or the beginning of the end?

Standing up for the wretched cost me everything.

My story begins now.
