Master of the Rose Cross (Rosicrucian Order AMORC Kindle Editions)

Harvey Spencer Lewis was born in New Jersey on November 25, 1883, of Welsh heritage and Methodist parents. He received an excellent education and a fine upbringing. From a very early age, he underwent mystical experiences which already indicated his exceptional destiny. For several years, he was the president of the New York Institute for Psychical Research, and was considered an authority in this field. In 1909, he made contact with the European leaders of the Rosicrucian Order. Having given proof of his integrity and of his knowledge in philosophical and esoteric matters, he was initiated in Toulouse, where he officially received the mission of reactivating the Order in America. Despite encountering numerous obstacles and difficulties, he carried out his mission well, and in conformity with the instructions that were given him by the Rosicrucians of France, he began to put into writing the Rosicrucian teachings. In order to demonstrate the traditional and authentic foundations of the Order, he made it known under the name, "The Ancient and Mystical Order of the Rose Cross." In 1915 he was named Imperator, that is, the international leader. After having dedicated his entire life to the service of the Order, Harvey Spencer Lewis passed through transition on August 2, 1939. This work, which is dedicated to him, is presented so that you can discover his thoughts through his essays. Though written in the past century, their message is always fresh. They demonstrate the modern spirit and avant-garde nature of this great philosopher and humanist.

Zen 96

The well-known in the West term Zen was empty right from the start -- miss even one of its three letters and the whole notion goes wrong. Looking inward yourself or outward, all the same, you see there is no fixed Self -- the centripetal emotion turns into the centrifugal and conversely. So, break into the purgatory of your soul through the front gate if you want to take your proper place in Hell.

Today, more and more people want to know what Zen is. The problem is that it is not an easy task to describe it, as Zen is beyond wording. It is something that cannot be talked about nor expressed in written form. The moment language is used we are no longer dealing with the spirit of Zen. However, Zen cannot be left unexpressed. In order to introduce the reader to the world of Zen, there is no alternative but to resort to the use of language; and that language is poetry. That's why there are so many poems written by the numerous adepts of Zen.

On the other hand, if Zen could be presented to another, men would all present it to their superiors; if it could be served up to others, men would all serve it up to their parents; if it could be told to others, men would all tell it to their brothers; if it could be given to others, men would all give it to their sons and grandsons. The reason why it cannot be transmitted is no other but this: that 'if,' within, there be not the presiding principle, it will not remain there, and if, outwardly, there be not the correct obedience, it will not be carried out. When that which is given out from the mind in possession of it is not received by the mind without, the sagely minded man will not give it out; and when, entering in from without, there is no power in the receiving mind to entertain it, the sagely minded man will not permit it to lie hidden there. The point here is that the ordinary intellect is unable to function on this frequency of interpretation, and in its unenlightened or unevolved state, views the Buddha's logic as gibberish, or 'mystical' inspired nonsense, when in fact, the Buddha's logic has more in common with higher science (i.e. quantum theory), than it does with theistic religion or the imaginations of superstitious based thinking. Therefore, better known in the West as Zen, it is a Western art-based movement that serves as the antithesis to established norms and conventions. It is a vague sense of performing a function, skill or art in the secular form that is devoid of strenuous effort, or somehow new or unexpected. In fact, Zen is not the experience, nor the realm, less still any heretical forms of Buddhist practice that ignores Buddhist conventions. Zen is just Zen, and that's it.

Srila Prabhupada: The Founder-Acarya of ISKCON

Presenting the Conclusions of the GBC Foundational Document

ISKCON's GBC (Governing Body Commission) has issued a Foundational Document on the position of Srila Prabhupada, a document which it has declared to be "historic" and required reading by everyone in ISKCON. In the spirit of cooperation, this book published by the ISKCON Revival Movement (IRM) offers the conclusions of that GBC Foundational Document. These conclusions establish that Srila Prabhupada's position as the Founder-?carya of ISKCON remains unchanged, which means that his position as ISKCON's only diksa (initiating) guru also remains unchanged throughout ISKCON's lifetime.

The GBC's Foundational Document is therefore in accordance with the IRM's own foundational document, The Final Order, which was published and presented to the GBC in 1996, and thus such concordance is indeed "historic".

This book is not meant for casual reading but for implementation.

What Do You Mean When You Say "God"?

[Note about problems downloading this book. I've received reports that sometimes this book is missing words and whole sentences. This is a problem with Amazon's site. If this happens to you, please delete the book and download it again. I apologize for the inconvenience.]

Constructing a Language of God and Prayer from the Sources of Jewish Tradition

In this book, I'll tell you what I mean by "God". I hope I'll also teach you a methodology for refining what you mean by "God" so that God can more powerfully energize your religious life (or whatever you call it). And then together, in light of whatever religion you practice (or form of atheism you believe in), we can try to imagine what humanity could become if she was liberated from her present state of exile (galut) and destruction (chorban).

This is an experimental first edition.

100 Contradictions: The Life & Teachings of His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami

HH Bhakti Charu Swami - in his own words.

There are currently some 70 persons claiming to be gurus in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON, or the Hare Krishna Movement) - successors to the original guru and founder, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Out of all of these, His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami is considered one of the most successful, respected and scholarly. Given this, and the fact that all ISKCON gurus were authorised via the same GBC* system, a detailed examination of the life and teachings of Bhakti Charu Swami as an ISKCON GBC-elected guru will simultaneously provide an evaluation of the whole ISKCON guru system.

This examination will be undertaken solely by studying the words and actions of Bhakti Charu Swami, and simply letting them speak for themselves. In this way, what follows cannot be disputed as simply being someone's subjective opinion about Bhakti Charu Swami. Rather, this will simply be Bhakti Charu Swami's opinion of himself, thus rendering it beyond argument.

Since this book is Bhakti Charu Swami himself presenting his own life and teachings in his own words, it can thus be considered as an "autobiography" of this ISKCON guru.

* Governing Body Commission

"Yes, devotees need a qualified spiritual master and I will say in ISKCON we have the most qualified spiritual master who is Srila Prabhupada. [...] In ISKCON who is the ultimate spiritual master? You need a spiritual master, but who is that spiritual master? It is Srila Prabhupada."

- HH Bhakti Charu Swami

"You are all my disciples and I am your spiritual master and if we don't make it a point to develop that relationship it won't happen. I am your spiritual master and we have a very important relationship. As your spiritual master I am like your father, I am like your friend."

- HH Bhakti Charu Swami

100 Deviations: The Life and Teachings of His Holiness Sivarama Swami

This book continues our series detailing the teachings of those claiming to be successor diksa, or initiating gurus to Srila Prabhupada, the original guru of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness, or Hare Krishna movement).

This series provides the viewpoints of those claiming to be Srila Prabhupada's successors, via their own words. In this way, though ISKCON's members may argue that "we do not accept the ISKCON Revival Movement and its ritvik philosophy", they cannot argue that they refuse to accept the words emanating from the "lotus mouths" of persons whom they accept as being as good as God.

Though this book is titled 100 Deviations: The Life and Teachings of His Holiness Sivarama Swami, readers should note that it is not that we are alleging that the Swami is deviating. Rather, it is the statements and actions of Sivarama Swami documented in this book, which prove that the Swami is himself admitting he is deviating. Therefore, anyone upset or disturbed at the contents of this book must take up the matter with the source of the contents of this book, which is Sivarama Swami himself.

Since this book is Sivarama Swami presenting his own life and teachings in his own words, it can thus be considered as an "autobiography" of this ISKCON guru.

"How much respect is meant to be offered to Vaisnavas [...] we should be very careful in terms of our interpersonal dealings amongst Vaisnavas, particularly when we speak, because in Kali-yuga, especially in our sort of communication age, everyone is free to speak and say anything about anyone else. So, number one - we should not criticize others."

- HH Sivarama Swami

"It is a matter of how to deal with, restrict, constrain JPS (Jayapataka Swami) in a way that does not break him, his disciples and also protects the Society from him [...] From the evidence I would say that he is a sick person, obsessed, and that obsession makes lying or duplicitous behaviour fully reconcilable with service to Prabhupada and Krishna Consciousness."

- HH Sivarama Swami
