The Picture of Dorian Gray

The Picture of Dorian Gray is an 1891 philosophical novel by Irish writer and playwright Oscar Wilde. First published as a serial story in the July 1890 issue of Lippincott's Monthly Magazine, the editors feared the story was indecent, and without Wilde's knowledge, deleted five hundred words before publication. Despite that censorship, The Picture of Dorian Gray offended the moral sensibilities of British book reviewers, some of whom said that Oscar Wilde merited prosecution for violating the laws guarding the public morality. In response, Wilde aggressively defended his novel and art in correspondence with the British press. Wilde revised and expanded the magazine edition of The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890) for publication as a novel; the book edition (1891) featured an aphoristic preface - an apologia about the art of the novel and the reader. The content, style, and presentation of the preface made it famous in its own literary right, as social and cultural criticism. In April 1891, the editorial house Ward, Lock and Company published the revised version of The Picture of Dorian Gray.

The First Shot (Lieutenant Kane - Dedicated to Death Series Book 1)

The First Shot: Book One in The Lieutenant Kane Dedicated to Death Series

For Tampa homicide lieutenant Carl Kane, death is his life. If a single award existed for sinking himself into his work, he'd have two.

But the latest crime scene he's called to, an old abandoned factory, leaves him with more bodies than leads. Three drug dealers are found shot to death--not an uncommon sight in the least. The problem lies with the pair of middle-aged women--bound, gagged, and executed--found at the same location.

Before he can sink his teeth into the initial investigation, Kane is called out to another multiple homicide. He comes up with only more questions when the second group of murders appears connected to the first.

As the lieutenant tracks down the few leads, he begins to get a clearer picture of those he seeks. That picture quickly turns crystal clear when Kane finds himself face-to-face with someone that "armed and dangerous" doesn't even begin to describe.

Act Of Contrition: (Rogue Detective Eddie Kane mixes with the mob in this gripping crime drama) (The Eddie Kane Series Book 1)

In the first of this new London-based crime trilogy, we meet the rogue Detective Sergeant Eddie Kane. Eddie is a reckless and dissolute operator, under investigation by the force and in debt to local mob chief, Vincent Mullis. When a killer starts targeting prostitutes in north London, Mullis is unusually keen for Eddie to solve the crime, but why?

A serial killer is targeting prostitutes in Islington, the victims having a number of unusual links. The killings begin the same week that convicted killer and local man, Paddy Graham, is released from prison following a life sentence for murder.

DS Eddie Kane has inadvertently found himself under the thumb of Vincent Mullis, who has taken ownership of a debt Eddie has built up with terminally-ill bookmaker, Arnie Duggan. Eddie's troubles begin to spiral out of control when he is placed under investigation following a drugs-bust gone wrong. While suspended, he is forced to investigate the murders for Mullis, who wants to get to the murderer before the police. He then reluctantly hears a murder confession from his former bookmaker...

In this heart-stopping, gripping crime drama, Eddie's investigations lead him into a murky world of pornography, murder and revenge, all of which seems to centre around a local church and the charismatic vicar, Jonathan Carter. Eddie is feeling the pressure from all sides, but will there be any chance of salvation?

If you like Lee Child you'll love the DS Eddie Kane series...

POOR JACK Part 1 of a DI Crosier Mystery: Calling at Despair, Suicide & Burial (Railway Detective)

***Visit edwintipple.com to get some selected books for FREE ***

ONE TRAGEDY ... FOR THE MOMENT

When DI Crosier's office rang him at 5am on his day off, he instinctively knew he would not be spending the rest of Sunday with Sergeant Claire Cardin in her bed, as they'd both hoped. It was more likely they'd be investigating yet another tragedy.

What the officers couldn't foresee, once they'd reached the crime scene, was that eleven-year-old Jack - now made homeless through his deranged mother's despair and suicide - would be exposed to abuse from an assumed pillar of society.

Could finding where the boy's father was living save poor Jack?

But that wasn't Crosier's only problem: he felt sure the letter from his wife, lurking unopened in his pocket now for days, would not make easy reading.

Questions to the Author

Why did you write this novel?

I've always been interested in why rail accidents occur and investigating them can make a good story, especially when based on a real event, as in my first novel Harrowing.

Is a lot of research needed?

A moderate amount is needed, particularly when real events are used as in part 2 of Poor Jack.

Why are your railway detective books set in the 1960s?

There are two reasons. First, there is an excellent series of railway detective novels by Edward Marston set in the 19th century, the century in which the railway police was formed and from which all police forces grew. The second reason is that I grew up near the railway in the days of steam, so I write about what I know.

Will there be more railway detective books from you?

Yes. Checkout edwintipple.com for more updates.

FBI Agent Shawn Cleary has hunted twin serial killers Trevor and Mitchell Gant since the series began. Their final chess match involves multiple moves as it careens toward a heart-stopping confrontation.

Fourplay, Book Four of the Cleary Case Files, finds FBI Agent Shawn Cleary acting as both guardian and foil. Twin serial killers Trevor and Mitchell Gant have framed her, killed her grandmother, and stalked everyone she cares about with a vow to save her for last.

As Mitchell's murder trial finally begins, Trevor lurks in the shadows doing everything he can to spring his brother. Nothing is off the table; hiring mercenaries to kidnap children, killing FBI agents, or tampering with the jury. The endgame for Mitchell leaves everyone stunned.

Terrorist threats and the ensuing chaos nearly overwhelm Shawn as she pursues perpetrators from Washington, D.C. to California and finally Alaska. Shawn and her cohorts rush to the scene of a cruise ship attack where the raging fires and climbing death toll create the perfect diversion for Trevor's checkmate ploy that Shawn can't possibly anticipate.

"Clark's greatest gift to readers is her breakneck pacing, which keeps the narrative flying along...it zigs and zags along the way, taking unexpected turns...She doesn't give short shrift to characterization, though, especially of Shawn, who cares deeply for those she loves while also being a tough agent near the top of her field...A well-crafted thriller that manages to be both timely and timeless." - Kirkus Reviews

Execution Is Everything: Part 1: The Girl (Jon Kaine)

"I'd landed in New York to commit a crime, but that wasn't the problem..."

But when a beautiful woman walks into a New York bar Kaine's life becomes anything but theoretical. As the night descends into violence he's forced to reawaken a buried part of himself, and put his skills to darker use.

In BEFORE HE KILLS, a woman is found murdered in the cornfields of Nebraska, strung up on a pole, the victim of a deranged killer. It doesn't take long for the police to realize a serial killer is on the loose--and that his spree has just begun. Detective Mackenzie White, young, tough, smarter than the aging, chauvinistic men on her local force, finds herself called in grudgingly to help solve it. As much as the other officers hate to admit it, they need her young, brilliant mind, which has already helped crack cold cases that had left them stumped. Yet even for Mackenzie this new case proves an impossible riddle, something the likes of which she--and the local force--have ever seen. With the FBI called in, together, an intense manhunt ensues. Mackenzie, reeling from her own dark past, her failed relationships, and her undeniable attraction to the new FBI agent, finds herself battling her own demons as her hunt for the killer takes her to the darkest places of her mind.

In CAUSE TO KILL, Homicide Detective Avery Black has been through hell. Once a top criminal defense attorney, she fell from grace when she managed to get a brilliant Harvard professor off--only to watch him kill again. She lost her husband and her daughter, and her life fell apart around her. Trying to redeem herself, Avery has turned to the other side of the law. Working her way up the ranks, she has reached Homicide Detective, to the scorn of her fellow officers, who still remember what she did, and who will always hate her.Yet even they cannot deny Avery's brilliant mind, and when a disturbing serial killer strikes fear into the heart of Boston, killing girls from elite colleges, it is Avery that they turn to. It is Avery's chance to prove herself, to finally find the redemption she craves. And yet, as she is soon to find out, Avery has come up against a killer as brilliant and daring as she.

In ONCE GONE, women are turning up dead in the rural outskirts of Virginia, killed in grotesque ways, and when the FBI is called in, they are stumped. A serial killer is out there, his frequency increasing, and they know there is only one agent good enough to crack this case: Special Agent Riley Paige. Riley is on paid leave herself, recovering from her encounter with her last serial killer, and, fragile as she is, the FBI is reluctant to tap her brilliant mind. Yet Riley, needing to battle her own demons, comes on board, and her hunt leads her through the disturbing subculture of doll collectors, into the homes of broken families, and into the darkest canals of the killer's mind. As Riley peels back the layers, she realizes she is up against a killer more twisted than she could have imagined.

In A TRACE OF DEATH, Keri Locke, Missing Persons Detective in the Homicide division of the LAPD, remains haunted by the abduction of her own daughter, years before, never found. Still obsessed with finding her, Keri buries her grief the only way she knows how: by throwing herself into the cases of missing persons in Los Angeles. A routine phone call from a worried mother of a high-schooler, only two hours missing, should be ignored. Yet something about the mother's voice strikes a chord, and Keri decides to investigate. What she finds shocks her. The missing daughter--of a prominent senator--was hiding secrets no one knew. When all evidence points to a runaway, Keri is ordered off the case. And yet, despite pressure from her superiors, from the media, despite all trails going cold, the brilliant and obsessed Keri refuses to let it go. She knows she has but 48 hours if she has any chance of bringing this girl back alive.

The basement where they kept the apple cider was dead quiet. Marissa, Mr. Howard's lawfully wedded wife of about forty years knew immediately that something was dead wrong. The apple ciders looked fine and from the look of things, Mr. Howard and finally finished his investigation. Marissa let out a sigh, thinking that she was probably overthinking and that was the main reason she suspected something had happened to her husband. There he was, Mr. Howard, dead and his body had rolled under one of the stands, explaining why she had missed it in the first place. Marissa was in shock, not knowing what to do next. Christie had worked on a murder case three years ago with Nathaniel and based on her previous experience with him, she couldn't wait to get into the scene.

Book 2 : The Cold Case

Agent Mary James wasn't going to just sit there and see her uncle getting turned down for something that she didn't do. He was the reason as to why she had joined the force and she believed that he had been framed and for that matter, was willing to do just about anything to make sure that he had been freed. And even though the judge or her superiors hadn't given her the greenlight, she decided to go forward with her investigations regardless.

Book 3 : The Sixth Sense

The child psychiatrist was coming to pick up Kerri for questioning over the murder of her foster mom and it was clear as crystal that the little girl was scared. All the evidence was pointing towards her being the murdered and from where agent Paula was standing, some things just weren't adding up.

And being the kickass police officer that she was; it was her solemn duty to ensure that no hard came to the little girl even if she was guilty. And just like that, she knew that it was about that time that she started digging.

Book 4 : The Enemy Outside

Time was running out. And if at all she wasn't going to do a damn thing about it, then she was most definitely going to lose the case and allow the wrong person to go behind bars. And as agent smith was doing all in her power to ensure that she was making sense out of all that was happening, something just popped up in her head just like that and all of a sudden, everything made sense. She knew just what she was supposed to do to get the real culprit.

Book 5 : On the Stroke of Midnight

Agent Martinez waited for a moment and went through the evidence once again. For some strange reason, she just wasn't satisfied even though they had already busted the real culprits. As far as she was concerned, all that she wanted to be done was to get down to some serious business that will see to it that the right culprit was caught and charged.

And just like that, something ticked. The gold watch that the beggar was wearing looked like the exact semblance of the one that Mr. Howard was wearing and just like that, it seemed as though everything was now starting to make some serious sense. And without wasting any time, she put her coffee mug down and went back to her office. It was about time that they knew whatever the heck was going on.

He is content to let this state of affairs continue, that is until the Piro scout, Tafoya, brings in a soldier half dead with no name, no unit, and no reason for being there. Like his preferred namesake before him, Thomas the doubter, there are too many questions to ignore.

Cozy Mystery 5 Book Set

Book 1 : FAMILY COZY MYSTERY

A young woman with classic red hair stormed into Mitchel's office. She had a bit of spot across her nose and her lips were not thick or thin, but could be termed as medium-size lips, and her cupid's bow didn't have super-defined peaks, nor did it lack definition.

Book 2 : Guilty Till Proven Innocent

The chase had finally come to an end. Jacob had run all the way into a cul-de-sac and there was nowhere to run so he stood up and faced agent Mary Kennedy with his hoodie still over his head. Agent Mary Kennedy was still looking at him without saying a word, just pointing at him with her gun and flashlight, trying to catch her break.

There was still some fresh blood all over his sleeve and the knife was still in hand. He was looking confused and was shaking all over the place, looking nothing like the cold blooded murderer that she could have been.

"Drop the knife and put your hands up! It's over!"

Book 3 : Murder on Election Month

Finally, the selected team sat down in the address room and waited for agent McLaren, the head of the homicide department, to come in and give them a briefing. And as soon as she stepped on top the podium, all the chattering and whispering died down almost immediately.

"I think that if it was a robbery, then he would have taken all of the cash because after that day's work, Mr. Harris had made about two thousand dollars which were still laying just there without being claimed. And the watch that was taken was just worth a hundred dollars."

Book 4 : Taken Over

Taken Over "I'll be waiting for you downstairs ." Christie told Nathaniel as she walked out of the office. Murder in The Basement (Book 3): Apple Cider Murder Mystery

The aura in the office became tensed up all of a sudden. Agent Perez didn't want to put her gun down. If anything, the only thing that she wanted to do was make a point of getting to shoot him, but then again, the law was always there to protect scums like Mr. walker.

Agent Perez made a point of staring at him for a moment without moving or saying a damn thing, and Mr. Walker seemed to be returning the same favor and for a moment, they were the semblance of statues with the only difference being that they were breathing heavily. Yes, it was a little bit confusing since Agent Perez was a little confused as she didn't know why Mr. walker would want to be in a police station at that time of the night.

On the other hand, Mr. Walker stared back at Agent Perez as though he too wasn't sure as to why he had come from his palatial place to the hell hole at that time of the night. In the end, it seemed as though they were both fighting some demons and not fully understanding whatever the heck was going on at all.

But since it was Agent Perez's territory, she decided to break the ice since it was starting to get awkward. And needless to say, awkward was a word that she didn't like at all.

"What do you think you are doing here?"

"I thought you guys wanted to see me, so I decided to drop by and say hi. Heck, I also heard you guys have good coffee, so I brought some muffins."

After the seventh victim is claimed, Detective Alex Hughes is assigned to protect her sister, despite his recent suspension from the police force. At that point, she didn't know what the heck she was going to do. As a matter of fact, things seemed to be getting out of hand. Every shred of evidence was pointing in one direction, but her gut was telling her to follow the exact opposite. She held up the gun and pointed at her face. Gabby was shaking all over the place. She had never used a gun for a very long time and not on an elderly person.

"If you are going to shoot me, then I suggest you got over and done with."

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be used against you in a court of law."

"Come on Gabby. I have been silent all these years. What makes you think I will say a damn thing? Yes, I think you are right. I have the right to remain silent. Everything I say will most definitely be used against me ha-ha. You have nothing on me."

Gabby smiled. She had Martha Reese where she wanted to have her, and now, there was nothing she could do to get off this hook. She unfolded her clenched fist and revealed a radio. The sight of the recorder wiped the evil smile that Martha had on her face.

"I think I have all I need to put you behind bars away for several years."

"its in the middle of the night gabby. What about you just came to my office in the morning and sort things out?"

"you don't understand. Its not a prank or a cry of attention. I think we are all a little too old for such crap. We do have a big problem... my cat just exhumed a body."

There was silence from the other end of the phone. From the look of things, it seemed as though the commander had been shaken to the core and was now wide awake. Nobody hated the discovery of bodies like the commander did since it meant lots of paper work and even more stress trying to find credible leads.

"Are you still there?"

"Yes, I am. I will be at your place in the next hour with a team. Just sit tight and you know the drill, don't contaminate the crime scene."

With that, gabby hang up the phone. Her home had just become a crime scene, something no cop would ever wish. Will they find anything out? Keep on reading to find out what happens.

The Islamic State of London: Muslim extremists have nuked London and the country is at war. The controversial page turner thriller starts here. (Blue Eyed Infidel Book 1)

The controversial and exciting thriller about Islamic Extremism in the UK, a debut book written by an ex-cyber analyst and security services field operative.

"Wow, so much in this book! Controversy, action, epic story and it's really quite funny too!"

"Seriously big ideas, but boy, what an entertaining book!"

Author's note...

Never mind Fake News, how about reading a thriller about a Fake Future?

In May 2017, a young Muslim man blew himself up in Manchester in the North of England, killing young girls and families at a pop concert. Barely a week later, three more Muslims ran into a London marketplace with knives, and started killing people 'For Allah.' They were all inspired by, and following the lead of ISIS.

Twitter was alive with pro-ISIS comments promising an Islamic State was going to emerge in London as the Muslim population keeps growing far faster than any other groups, and more young men sign up to extremism.

But will it happen? When London becomes a Muslim city, will it be a peaceful place, or will it descend into an ISIS like level of extremism?

Nobody knows, but what a great topic for a cracking action-packed story!

In Blue Eyed Infidel, Islamic Extremists have set off a nuclear bomb in London, and declared an Islamic State of London. They want to destroy all remaining British people, starting with a suicide bomb attack on the Royal Family.

Adam Ali, the son of a sex slave and unwilling member of the Islamic State of London is about to be dragged into something that will completely change not just his life, but maybe the war as a whole...

So, a controversial topic, but first and foremost it's a fast-paced debut thriller, with a ton of amazing ideas, elements of sci-fi, action-packed scenes, and later on some pretty raunchy scenes too... It's extremely easy to read, with characters you'll love and hate in equal measure. Give it a go... see what the fuss is about. Why not?

Interview with the author

Why don't you have a photo?

I can't without breaking the Official Secrets Act.

Also my mum back in Wales told me I have to stay incognito after I was shot, and I don't want to give her any stress. She's over 70 now and deserves some peace.

Why should anyone read your books?

Because I look so damned dashing in my picture of course ! When I was in warzones dealing with ISIS, (which is 99% boredom, 1% insanity) I read a lot of thrillers, and found myself skipping pages and getting bored with a lot of them because they just followed a tedious formula and all seemed more or less the same. So, I've made every effort to write books that I'd like to read myself and that are definitely not boring or predictable! My books are absolute corking twisted thrillers, crazy political satires, and total page turner thrillers that are action packed and race along. You won't skip a single word, and if you can guess the ending... I'll go out and buy a hat just so I can eat it!

Also, each of my books is divided into short read volumes you can bash through in an hour or two each. Ideal for commuting, or chilling out. Things happen quickly and there are a lot of cliff hangers.

I love things which are imaginative, controversial and don't play by the rules but still have a massive impact. Movies like Rebel Without a Cause, Terminator, Requiem for a Dream, books like Catch 22, TV shows like Star Trek, (yup it was controversial once!) My books try to be the same. The difference is I write about things people talk about at dinner, but don't feel comfortable talking about in public. So, yes that does include things like Islamic extremism, political correctness, global politics and lots more.

Sounds like you don't like Islam!

The hero of my book is a Muslim and he's a good guy. In theory, Islam really SHOULD be a religion of peace, but in practice it isn't, is it?

Fracture

Ure Infectus: The Chimera Adjustment: Book One (Imperium Cicernus 1)

In the far future, humanity has settled the stars of our galaxy and formed an Imperium which stands uncontested as the greatest known civilization. A network of wormholes connects the far-flung segments of humanity, allowing virtually instantaneous travel between Star Systems connected by this vast, invaluable network.

But what happens when one of those wormholes collapses and an entire Sector of relatively poor worlds is left to fend for itself without support, without guidance, and without the vast infrastructure of the Imperium available to its citizens? What might such a society look like after two centuries of independence, having been left to devise their own culture, values, and government?

Welcome to the Chimera Sector.

The citizens of this seemingly-forgotten splinter of the Imperium hold one belief above all others: Only when the leaders fear the voters as much as the voters fear the leaders can harmony be achieved.

To achieve this harmony, a special type of guild was created called the Timent Electorum. The operatives of this guild -- called 'Adjusters' -- work at the behest of the voting public, and exclusively punish political corruption, tyranny, and treason with the ultimate sanction: assassination.

This is the story of one such Adjuster, Jericho, who forges an unlikely alliance with an urban detective, Masozi, whose steadfast adherence to the Sector's core principles have placed her in harm's way. Acting together in a tenuous alliance, they will follow a trail of corruption across the Virgin Star System and witness the birth of a conflict which will forever change them -- along with the entire Chimera Sector.

The Missing Gun (Hawker of the Yard Book 1)

London in the autumn of 1939: the early months of World War 2. Hitler has just conquered Poland, but life in London continues much as it did in peacetime, albeit a little more restricted since the introduction of petrol rationing. For Scotland Yard and the criminal fraternity, however, it is business as usual. When a pawnbroker's assistant is wounded by a gunman wearing a gasmask, it appears to be a straightforward case of a bungled armed robbery, but as Hawker proceeds with his investigation, the more facts he uncovers the more confusing the affair becomes. A red-headed soldier, a missing gun, a dead cat, an empty violin case and a damaged violin are only a few of the threads that have to be unravelled before he can wrap up the case - with a little help from Sherlock Holmes.

Preludes: A Story of Child Sexual Abuse from a Child’s Perspective in a Middle Class American Family

Illuminating the horrors of child sexual abuse from a child's perspective, "Preludes" is a novella-length story chronicling the experiences of a nine-year-old boy as he struggles to survive sexual abuse by his father in a middle class American family in the 1960s. "Preludes" is based in significant part on the experiences of its author, a child sexual abuse survivor.

* * *

When a nine-year-old boy in a "respectable," middle class family is raped, then repeatedly molested by his father, how does the boy experience the abuse and how does he manage to survive?

"Preludes" examines these questions.

The boy wakes in the middle of the night to find his father sitting on the edge of his bed, gently shaking him from his sleep. Though confused by his father's unexpected presence, for a few brief moments he suspects nothing unusual.

His father then accuses him of having misbehaved without saying how, and tells him he'll have to be punished. The boy initially protests, but then, sensing the futility of resistance, grudgingly prepares himself for what his father tells him will be a spanking, all the while thinking, "Gee, this is ridiculous--I haven't done anything wrong." His father then proceeds to rape him, and, the rape completed, threatens to murder him if he tells anyone, including his mother.

Thus begins the boy's struggle for survival in the face of his father's nightly onslaughts--a struggle that stretches the boy's physical, psychological, and emotional resources to their limits and beyond.

Adding to his struggle's immensity is the story's milieu: a "Pleasantville" middle class neighborhood in a mid-sized American city in the early 1960s--an environment that gives no indication, on its surface, that dysfunction of such proportions could occur within its hermetic confines. The boy's family enjoys a high status--the father is a professor at a prestigious university, and the family belongs to a Presbyterian church that counts among its members some of the city's most prominent citizens. It is an environment in which acknowledgement of even the merest possibility of child sexual abuse within a family as respectable as that of the boy's is as taboo as the abuse itself. Sensing these constrictions, the boy feels his isolation in his suffering increase exponentially.

The prime importance placed by the community on maintaining a semblance of normalcy, no matter the cost to the truth, extends to the day-to-day life of the boy's home. The family's nightly meals together, at a table set with engraved silverware and an "everyday" china of the most tasteful design, and the "Smile Club" photos the boy's mother hangs in the downstairs hallway--family photos, taken regularly, for which the fundamental requisite is that everyone in them be wearing a pleasant smile--help form the bulwark of the mother's determined effort to put the best possible face on things.

To survive, the boy attempts to hide the truth as much as possible, even from himself, with his mind employing, as its chief means to this end, a total forgetting of the abuse when it's not actually happening--a strategy his mind has utilized on previous occasions of his father's abuse.

But survival, though laudable, comes at an enormous price--a price exacted, among other ways, in the warped perception the boy forms of what it means to "be a man." A price, the story suggests, the boy will have to pay going forward, into adulthood, until he reaches a point of substantial healing.

A Mother's Day: A Short Story

AN ORIGINAL SHORT STORY

FROM THE CELEBRATED AUTHOR OF

THE BESTSELLING NOVEL HERE, HOME, HOPE ....

Three mothers. Three sons. One day that changes them all forever.

Five Star Reviews!

"Nicely written - very quick read - sad moment but wonderfully heartwarming! Ms. Rouda - you're Light Blue!" ~ Stacy Eaton, author

"Kaira Rouda does an amazing job of weaving three disparate tales together by uniting them around a single shocking event as observed by three very different types of women, all at different stages of motherhood. Her voice is authentic and each story is engaging and leaves you wanting to know more. It was a perfect story." ~ Hobson, Amazon Reviewer

"I enjoyed the short story which delves into the lives of three different women who are mothers - each of them is at a different stage of motherhood (a new mom with a baby to a mom of a teenage son) and each has boys (I have two sons myself). We get a peek into the lives of these three women on Mother's Day and a shocking event that happens that they are all tied to in some way - a life-changing event - and eventually see how the three moms are connected (think like the movie CRASH with Sandra Bullock where the characters are slightly connected). For those who enjoy it, dive into the author's full-length novel called HERE, HOME, HOPE. Both are great reads for women who enjoy women's fiction novels that are both inspiring, real and well written." ~ WriterCrys, Amazon Reviewer

The Dreadful Alchemist: A Thrilling Espionage Novel (Techno Thriller, Mystery & Suspense Book 1)

A blood-chilling tale of international nuclear terrorThis action packed, fast moving international thriller, is a page turner from cover to virtual cover. It takes the reader from peaceful Scandinavia, to the offices of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna and through a clandestine laboratory culminating in the turmoil of the Middle East where the Islamic State seeks to establish the New Islamic Caliphate. Ollie, a disgruntled young Swedish man, joins the Islamic State fanatics in Syria and is given a special mission that will promote a global nuclear war. Through subterfuge, manipulation and ruthlessness Ollie is determined to accomplish his goal. The disappearance of radioactive sources from hospitals all over Europe attracts the attention of the International Atomic Energy Agency. A plot to detonate a radioactive dispersion device is suspected, but David Avivi, a brilliant physicist who is a Mossad agent, believes something much worse is at hand. A continent wide chase begins to discover the whereabouts of the missing sources and a bizarre scientist who may be involved. David and the Israel Security Agency are just one step behind Ollie...

??? ISIS will stop at nothing to promote destruction and havoc on a global scale. Who can stop them? This exciting thriller combines two important, yet very demanding, political and scientific elements. The author skillfully leads us through the current political situation in the Western world by employing menacing ingredients such as fanatic Islam and atomic bomb threat. Though the basic scheme of this book comprises of classical components such as sex and the Middle East conflict, the reader is easily and quickly caught by the developing plot. The scientific core is (thank God) unfounded, yet it looks reasonable even for scientists that are not experts in nuclear physics.

This book is highly recommended for those who like thrillers with unexpected original plot.

Bedrock: A Gripping Psychological Thriller: Volume 1

When Addison Greyer, a happily married mother of three, decides to re-enter the workforce, she never once considers that taking a job might unravel everything she thinks to be true about her life-that it would cause her to look deep within and confront fears she didn't know existed. She couldn't have foreseen how a chance meeting or a single day can change the course of an entire lifetime. Like many women, Addison is defined in terms of marriage and motherhood, until she suddenly finds her life turned upside down by her husband's decision to take a job thousands of miles away. When her tough-as-nails boss offers her an opportunity she can't refuse, Addie is forced to make difficult choices. Those choices take her further and further out of the carefully crafted fairytale life she has created and lead her into an unknown world where things are anything but black and white: a world where she learns that desire is not only dangerous but deadly. In this world, all bets are off as she is forced to finally confront her past. As her past and present collide, she has to make decisions that for most are unthinkable, decisions that can tear her family apart, and perhaps even have fatal consequences. Bedrock is a love story designed to showcase how the choices we make ultimately shape our lives. It serves as a reminder that in the end what defines us is not the big events, the monumental occasions. It's the tiny, seemingly inconsequential moments in between. It's proof that time passes and we cannot, no matter how hard we try, get it back. Bedrock is a story of love and grief that pretty much sums up the context of the human experience. Due to heavy subject matter, strong language, and sexual content this book is for mature readers.

Downgrade - paramedic short story

NOT FOR UNDERAGE READERS! WARNING: sarcasm, graphic medical details, adult language (also known as profanity, cussing, bad/foul/dirty words, swearing, obscenities, four-letter words, cursing and colorful language, which may include: s**t, d**n, f**k, and others. If you don't like using, reading, otherwise dealing with these words, don't bother downloading this. You won't like it. These words aren't used to 'spice it up'. They're used because many medics, when in private, speak like this. Some a lot. Some a little. They are a reflection of THIS aspect of the real world. You have been duly and fairly warned.

Paramedics aren't born cynical. The job either hardens or devours them.

Have you ever wondered what paramedics experience? Dealing with 'the job' isn't glamorous. At its worst, it's gruesome. This very short story is not for the faint of heart or minors, but is for those fascinated with getting a behind the scenes look at EMS. It gets inside the mind of a rookie paramedic dealing with the realistic horror of humanity. It's an intense sensory ride, but not a normal story. Dozens of real medics, other than me, have agreed that it's an accurate portrayal--emotionally, visually, mentally, and sensory.

You know you want to look. Everyone does, they just don't want to admit it. How else do you think this has been in the top 10-15 fee kindle medical since Oct 1, 2013?

So why are you waiting?

Approx 5-10 pages depending on font/reader 2000+ intense words in the mind of a paramedic. 1st person.

Some People Die Quick (Book 2 of the Jay Leicester Mysteries Series)

Jay Leicester (pronounced "Lester"), a retired airline pilot now running his own investigation firm, is sent a client by his old friend Guy Robbins, an attorney on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. The client is a horribly disfigured young female marine biologist who is Director of a research lab on Cat Island, twelve miles off the coast of Gulfport. Her disfigurement is the result of an attack by a tiger shark during a dive to the wreck of a World War Two German submarine sank during the war by the U.S. Navy off the coast of Chandeleur Island.

During a two year recovery period the scientist becomes convinced the attack was orchestrated by someone who wanted to steal the formula for a shark repellent being developed at the research lab. The repellent, if perfected, would be worth billions of dollars. How a pelagic shark could be used to attack a specific diver in the open ocean becomes the enigma behind the investigation of this mystery thriller.

One of the most enigmatic characters is the marine biologist herself. Annatoo Yillah, a direct descendant of Polynesian parents, is as strange as she is intelligent. A woman who, though educated in the west, believes she is an ancient God of Tiburon - a shark god. Other characters in the work are: Anna Yillah's two research assistants, George Lenoir and Vickey Fourche, brilliant graduate students from Mississippi State University, who worship and learn at the feet of their mentor; Susan Weems, a lifelong friend and former colleague of Anna Yillah, enters the scene with a bizarre tale of love and friendship; a career criminal and shrimp fisherman, Bob Sabado, who is tied to the lab by unrequited love. Then we meet Hebrone Opshinsky, one of those unforgettable characters that linger on in our mind forever. An "in-country" Viet Nam soldier trained as a silent killer and put back on the street after the war without any indoctrination in how to adjust to a peaceful society. A man who is more deadly than all the sharks in the Gulf of Mexico and lives among the underbelly of the shrimp fishermen along the docks of the Mississippi Coast. Finally, we meet a Police Detective and a Chief of Police who could not be more different in their investigative techniques. Both think Jay Leicester may be responsible for three murders and an attempt at a fourth.

After meeting with Anna Yillah and conferring with Guy Robbins, Jay takes the case and accompanies her to Cat Island. Understanding why a brilliant research scientist could believe an attack in the open ocean by a shark could be purposefully accomplished is the first priority. He learned quickly that not only was it possible, but that it was exactly what had happened. With hundreds of visiting scientists rotating on and off the island doing research, the list of possible suspects seems insurmountable, but soon is narrowed to a select few. To expose the antagonist Anna and Jay recreate the original dive on the German submarine. It goes horribly wrong resulting in a ghastly death and failing to reveal a murderer. Starting over, Leicester finds an unlikely ally in an original suspect. This assistance leads to the discovery of the killer, but not before another innocent life is lost, and Jay is confronted with his own mortality.

Pristine offshore islands, coastlines ruined by casino hotels, and Gulf of Mexico waters is the setting for intrigue, horror, and quick death. A must read for any aficionado of the Mystery/Thriller genre.

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR

Q - So, what makes the Alex Thorne series special?

A - The Alex Thorne series is focused on giving readers a high-thrill, page-turning rollercoaster of female-fronted spy action. There is a heady mixture of adventure, mystery and thriller elements in each instalment that takes the reader down a twisting path of shocking revelations and high adrenaline as Alex uncovers the secrets about both her adversaries and her own family.

Q - So, why should readers give these books a try?

A - At its heart, because the series is a thrilling ride of action adventure. Also however, there are very few action spy thrillers that focus upon a female protagonist; something that I believe is a travesty and that I hope to do my part to correct with the Alex Thorne series. I believe that it is possible for women to kick just as much butt as any suave male spy could, and I want to showcase this fact.

Q - Can readers get the second instalment for free?

A - They sure can! Simply go to the web link written in the first few pages of 'Eastern Shadows' and you can have the option of getting 'Patriot Traitors: Alex Thorne Book Two' for FREE if you sign up to the C.J. Somersby mailing list.

And thanks for reading!
